Los Pumas represent the national men's team of Argentina. Although their first international involvement dates back to 1910, a defining moment in their history was the remarkable 1965 tour to South Africa. On June 19, 1965, the Argentine team achieved a significant victory by defeating the Junior Springboks 11-6 at the iconic Ellis Park Stadium in Johannesburg. During this memorable African expedition, a local journalist mistakenly referred to the jaguar on the Argentine Rugby Union emblem as a puma in an article, which led to the worldwide adoption of the nickname "LOS PUMAS" for the Argentine national team.
